Canadian Red Cross Opening Three Reception Centres to Assist Evacuees in Lethbridge County

(Alberta) September 10, 2012: The Canadian Red Cross has opened three Reception Centres to assist the people who have been evacuated due to grassfires in southern Alberta. The centres are located at Fritz Sick Memorial Gym, 420 - 11 Street South, Lethbridge Enmax, 2510 Scenic Drive and the Picture Butte Community Center located Right of Main Street. Canadian Red Cross working in collaboration with the City of Lethbridge will be providing the evacuees who are currently at the Fritz Sick and Enmax reception centres with needs assessments. Red Cross will also provide the evacuees at the Picture Butte centre with needs assessments.

The evacuees will be provided with lodging, clothing, food, hygeine kits and water as required.

The Canadian Red Cross and the City of Lethbridge remain on stand-by to ensure the people who have been affected by this fire will have their basic needs met.

Canadian Red Cross Disaster Assistance volunteers will continue to work along side local officials to determine if additional support is needed. As further information becomes available, an updated release will be distributed.
