Ontario Government passes Bill 13. Canadian Red Cross, RespectED program offers solutions for schools

On June 5, the Ontario Government passed Bill 13, the Accepting Schools Act. The Canadian Red Cross applauds this and any efforts to make schools safer for all students.

For over 28 years, in collaboration with school and community partners, the Canadian Red Cross has aimed to prevent violence, abuse and harassment through RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention programs.

The Red Cross Beyond the Hurt bullying prevention education program has been a primary focus of the Red Cross RespectED program in Ontario, and offers schools an affordable, effective and sustainable solution to meeting the obligations of Bill 13. Learn more about what the Red Cross has to offer here.

All RespectED programs are based on research and evaluation, years of proven practice and current legislation that can be customized to fit a variety of needs. The programs provide training on such topics as healthy dating relationships and bullying and harassment prevention.

For a complete list and descriptions of all RespectED courses offered, teachers are encouraged to explore the Canadian Red Cross, Programs for the Classroom Guide. This course catalogue lists the many programs available for students and teachers through Red Cross. It is designed exclusively for Ontario teachers.
