Red Cross preparing to assist Northern Ontario communities affected by forest fires
There is currently a serious risk of fire near several Northern Ontario communities and the Red Cross is working closely with local and provincial authorities to make plans in the event a community needs to be evacuated. Trained volunteers and emergency supplies (cots, blankets and comfort kits) are being relocated to areas at possible risk should assistance be required and potential sites for shelters are being identified. Residents in the affected areas are being asked to prepare should they need to evacuate. For a list of items to include in a disaster preparedness kit, click here.
