How your donations will be used in Japan
The Canadian Red Cross is extremely committed to transparency and accountability to our donors. Generous donations from our donors will be used to directly support emergency relief and recovery operations underway in affected communities across Japan.
The Canadian Red Cross has a strong relationship with the Japanese Red Cross and is in regular communication with them regarding the situation and needs on the ground. At this time, Japanese Red Cross has indicated their greatest need is for financial resources and has requested the support of the Canadian Red Cross.
Funds raised for this appeal will be used to support Red Cross emergency response efforts in Japan. This may include relief items (blankets, sleeping mats, and hygiene items), medical supplies and equipment and deploying emergency personnel.
As the disaster shifts from the emergency to recovery phase assessments will be done to determine how the Red Cross can best support longer-term relief and recovery efforts in affected communities.
