Flooding devastates millions in Pakistan
Over 20 million people were affected when monsoon rains caused extensive flash flooding throughout Pakistan. While most of the water has receded, some areas remain underwater.
Canadian funded distributions are underway in the most affected areas, where the Canadian Red Cross aims to assist thousands of people with relief supplies. Despite these efforts, the scale of the disaster is massive and more help is needed.
Affected communities will require substantial longer-term assistance to support recovery in the coming years. The Canadian Red Cross needs your support to continue our efforts reaching survivors with urgently needed supplies, health care and shelter.
Canadians wishing to help support relief efforts underway in Pakistan are encouraged to contribute by donating online, calling 1-800-418-1111 or contacting their local Red Cross office. Cheques should be made payable to the Canadian Red Cross, earmarked “Pakistan Floods 2010” and mailed to the Canadian Red Cross National Office, 170 Metcalfe Street, Suite 300, Ottawa, Ontario, K2P 2P2.
