Thank You to Columbia Basin Trust
The Mission Statement of Columbia Basin Trust
The Columbia Basin Trust supports efforts by the people of the Basin to create a legacy of social, economic and environmental well-being and to achieve greater self-sufficiency for present and future generations.
In 2009/10, the Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives contributed funds to enable us to upgrade nine Health Equipment Loan (HELP) Depot operations throughout the BC Southern Interior and to the RespectED: Violence & Abuse Prevention program.
At the Depots, training was provided for our volunteers on the prevention of disease transmission, we enhanced our equipment inventory of bariatric equipment and was able to build wash bays so the medical equipment is properly cleaned and disinfected.
In Cranbrook and Fernie, we delivered two workshops “Prevention In Motion.” This workshop educates adults who work with children and youth on the prevention of child maltreatment. The participants received information on what child matreatment is, the physical indicators of abuse, its impact, reporting requirements of Canada, and risk management.
The funding was administered through the Regional Districts of: East Kootenay, West Kootenay, Kootenay Boundary and Revelstoke.
