Forty images; forty stories of suffering, struggle, and hope. The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to present “Our World At War” a photo exhibit featuring images from five world-class award-winning photographers. The exhibit, a partnership between the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and VII (a photo agency dedicated to socially-committed documentary photography), uncovers the human suffering and dignity of ordinary people living in extraordinary war torn, or previously war-torn circumstances. Acclaimed photographers James Nachtwey, Franco Pagetti, Antonin Kratochvil, Ron Haviv and Christopher Morris turn their lenses to Afghanistan, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Lebanon, Liberia, Haiti and the Philippines, bringing individual stories to the fore, including women struggling to recover from sexual violence, famlies coping with displacement, and individuals recovering from personal injuries.
The exhibit runs from July 10–30, 2009.

The exhibit also features interactive multi-media and ICRC documentaries. Our World At War has been exhibited in countries around the world, including France, the United States, Thailand, and many other countries.
The International Committee of the Red Cross is an impartial, neutral, and independent humanitarian organization with a mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other violence. Established in 1863, the ICRC is at the origin of the Geneva Conventions and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It directs and coordinates the international activities conducted by the Movement in armed conflicts and other situations of violence.
