EMOTIONS: A program that also cares for kids
What is an emotionally healthy child? Performing arts educator and Montessori teacher Marla Rosen tackles this vital topic with her EMOTIONS Initiative. Marla has been touring across Canada with the EMOTIONS Interactive Puppet Sho
w & Concert, EMOTIONS Book & CD and teacher’s workshop about Emotional Intelligence. Her goal is to raise awareness about literacy, mental health and violence prevention in an entertaining and engaging way.
Marla invites children to explore their emotions in a safe environment with this fun-filled EMOTIONS Puppet Show & Concert that aims to promote healthier relationships and resiliency in children. Children are given the tools to explore and express themselves as they begin to learn, define and clarify the nature of their feelings.
To compliment the EMOTIONS Show or as a resource that stands on its own, the EMOTIONS Book & CD is an entertaining approach to behavioral education for children. It is comprised of 24 full colour page illustrations about 10 different human emotions and a 10 song CD insert that corresponds to the content.
In this novel approach to behavioral education, young children are led on a journey to connect, discover and understand the nature of their emotions through a virtual musical and visual experience. This unique book (CD included) allows children to improve the quality of their mental health. By giving children the knowledge and skills to define their emotions, they are able to strengthen their immune system and develop their emotional intelligence.
Along with the EMOTIONS Book & CD, EMOTIONS Puppet Show & Concert, Marla has created a play-based workshop for teachers and health care practitioners on how to teach emotional intelligence to children. By giving children the ability to generate awareness through defining, recognizing and articulating different emotions in a safe forum, educators are able to relay the necessary tools that can reduce, prevent and break the cycle of abuse.
“By using these engaging tools, children learn about their feelings and cultivate skills that will allow them to develop awareness of the emotions of themselves and of others.” ~ Dr. Eric Cadesky
“Marla’s songs blend the silliness and the raucous energy with crucial information about what it means to feel…” ~ Dr. Marlene Goldman
