The Red Cross in Southern Alberta

Who We Serve

The Southern Alberta Region of the Canadian Red Cross serves Albertans south of (but not including) Red Deer. We have offices in Calgary, Brooks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Standoff.

Each year, with your support, the Red Cross in southern Alberta directly improves the lives of more than 254,000 people. Every day, the Red Cross provides essential programs and services in injury prevention, health promotion, humanitarian action and disaster response.

How We Serve

Volunteers are the backbone of the Canadian Red Cross. In southern Alberta, over 500 people contribute their time and talents to improve the lives of vulnerable members of our communities.

In our community, Red Cross counts on the skills, expertise and experience of a volunteer regional council.  The Southern Alberta Regional Council works with our Western Canada Council and National Board of Governors. Together, they govern the operations of the country's leading humanitarian organization.

The following are the 2010/11 volunteer members of the Southern Alberta Regional Council:

George Petel, President

Kim Caves, Vice President

Merv Chia – Past President

Katherine Morton, Council Member

Tammy Strangemann, Council Member

Patrick Lichowit, Council Member

Steve Fedorchuk, Council Member

Shaka Miller, Council Member

Warren Szkolnicki, Council Member
