Humanitarian Issues Program

The Humanitarian Issues Program in Atlantic Canada is dedicated to helping the general public gain a better understanding of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the humanitarian impacts of armed conflict and the work of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Youth take part in the program through conferences, workshops and other educational activities. Find out how you can get involved.

Call for participants – 2013 Youth Conference, March 23

Youth aged 13-18 are invited to learn about humanitarian issues related to children and war – such as:  the experiences of the girl child, child soldiers, and explosive remnants of war. Interactive activities around these issues allow participants to develop a greater understanding of the impact of war on children, and develop empathy for those affected. Youth also engage in skills development around taking action, and being a leader on global issues.

Registration deadline: March 9, 2013. Send completed application form to Yehia Abdelkader at  yehia.abdelkader@redcross.ca or by fax (902) 422-6247.
