Overview of online workshop and course formats
All online training currently offered through Red Cross OnLine falls under one of two formats.
Workshops:
- Include a one-month online access
- Workshop modules can be accessed at any time (24/7) during the one-month period
- Are un-facilitated (i.e. are not led by an instructor)
- Learning is done through online presentations, activities and self-directed assignments
- Take about 4-6 hours to complete
- Workbook and certificate of participation included with the course
- Successful completion is solely based on the results tracked electronically in Red Cross OnLine.
Courses or Training Programs:
- Include 7-12 weeks online access
- Courses or modules can be accessed at any time (24/7) during the 7-12 week period (weekly assignment due dates must be observed)
- Are facilitated by a certified RespectED Trainer
- Learning is done through online presentations, readings, activities and interactive, cohort-based assignments including asynchronous discussions and email group work
- Participants must ensure they schedule on average 5-6 hours per week in which to complete the course work
- Successful completion of facilitated courses or programs is based upon the participant’s Knowledge Assessment Test (KAT) scores, completion of all assignments, participation in the Discussion Groups and a final assessment/discussion with the instructor.
The longer courses or programs can be taken as intensive professional development training, or as the theoretical part of RespectED Educator training (refer to the Taking RespectED into the community section for more information).
