The best way to protect yourself and others from all types of influenza is to follow these simple rules.
- Wash your hands often, using plenty of soap and warm water
- Cover your mouth when you cough
- Use a tissue or a handkerchief when you sneeze
- If you become sick, stay at home
- Talk to your health care provider about the annual flu shot
The Canadian Red Cross offers First Aid courses that will help you deal with life’s emergencies. The courses also offer a module on Prevention of Disease Transmission that provides an overview of how diseases are transmitted and steps that can be taken to reduce risks.
