The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to announce the renewal of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Canadian Medical Association to improve the quality of life, health and safety for all Canadians.

CMA can provide access to the broad expertise of its 64,000 members, and has the capacity to get important messages to thousands of patients through their doctors.  The Red Cross has an unmatched reputation in programming and public awareness for areas such as water safety, first aid and disaster relief.

The two organisations have benefited from strong relationship even before the first Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2004. Success and future plans include:

  • CMA and CRC share resources such as providing expert opinion for CRC First AID manuals
  • work in collaboration in areas of public health, finance and disaster response such as planning for a potential outbreak of flu
  • plans are being developed to tap into CMA's membership pool for international assignments

The Canadian Red Cross is a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. Since it was established more than 100 years ago, the Canadian Red Cross has become part of the nation’s social fabric, providing disaster relief, water safety programs, first aid training, community home care, violence and abuse prevention services and international assistance.
