CPR Instructor

This course provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Canadian Red Cross CPR courses. The candidates are expected to have finely tuned CPR technical skills. Therefore, this course focuses on how to teach and facilitate CPR skills.
Course Content:
Includes teaching, facilitation, learning and assessment theory; individual and group assignments; several practise teaching exercises; and inclusion, progressive learning, and Red Cross Fundamental Principles and basic life support CPR training philosophies are also reinforced throughout the course.
Course Length:
20 hours (excluding pretesting of knowledge and skills)
Prerequisites:
- Hold a current Canadian Red Cross CPR-HCP certificate or equivalent CPR-HCP certificate
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Successfully complete a pre-course knowledge and skills test
Recognition:
Successful candidates are certified as Canadian Red Cross CPR Instructor for 3 years and receive a wallet card upon completion of all course requirements including a written examination with a minimum mark of 80%.
