Participants of the Conference on Disaster Management which was held in Halifax from June 1-3, 2010 heard from several experts in emergency shelter and reconstruction from Canada and around the world including Pakistan, Indonesia and China.
Panelists from the Canadian Red Cross, Haitian Red Cross and IFRC discussed reconstruction challenges in Haiti and lessons from past rebuilding efforts. The Canadian Red Cross also unveiled a model of the hurricane and earthquake resistant shelter that will be constructed in some of the communities most affected by the January 12 earthquake in Haiti.
Save the date! Next year’s Conference on Disaster Management is scheduled to take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia from May 30 to June 1, 2011.
Call for presenters and theme will be announced in the coming months.
