ARC Fraud investigation - Statement
The Canadian Red Cross is aware of the ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud in connection with the American Red Cross’ relief effort for Hurricane Katrina.
We want to emphasize that these allegations, if true, represent by far a small fraction of the many thousands of Red Cross volunteers who give of their time, compassion and energy every day to help others, and who do so in a way that brings credit to themselves and the Red Cross.
More than 200 Canadian Red Cross staff and volunteers were deployed to assist with the American Red Cross response to Hurricane Katrina. We are proud and grateful for their contributions. To our knowledge no Canadians are implicated in any way in the current investigation.
