Millions of people in southern Africa are facing a rapidly developing crisis. Following a drastic shortfall of grain harvests in 2002, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe are suffering the worst food shortages in a decade and many people face starvation in the coming months. The desperate situation is compounded by an AIDS pandemic that affects up to 25% of the population, depleting the labour force and reducing food production and wage income. More»
