Canadian wins international award for Red Cross photo

At the time the award - winning photo was taken in 2003, Kokic was a Canadian Red Cross audio - visual delegate dispatched to capture images of a measles vaccination campaign in Zambia.
“We are extremely proud that Marko has received this award,” says Mel Peters, Director, International Development, Canadian Red Cross. “His photos captured the essence of the health promotion campaign in Zambia - including community involvement, humanity and the deep resilience, pride and strength of the African people.”
During recent years, Kokic has traveled widely, taking compelling photos of people living with HIV/AIDS in southern Africa, community healthcare workers in Central America and disaster survivors in Haiti and other Caribbean countries.
InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S. - based international development and humanitarian NGOs. With more than 160 members operating in every developing country, they work to overcome poverty, exclusion and suffering by advancing social justice and basic dignity for all.
The award was announced at InterAction annual Forum, which also honour politicians, individuals and NGOs that have worked to support the goals of InterAction.
