As you take up the membership challenge, you are helping the most vulnerable. We need your voice to ensure the best decisions are made in building the future of Red Cross. We invite members to contribute insight and ideas at meetings and by using our membership electronic mailboxes. From time to time, we may ask your opinion about topics such as our image, program relevance, issues and future development. This kind of feedback contributes to our long-term relevance and direction.

Membership comes with rights and responsibilities
- Hold a valid Red Cross membership card and certificate, which symbolizes the excellent reputation of the Red Cross and confers your right to participate in and vote at your local annual meeting*
- Receive notification of annual meetings, so you can make your voice count
- Vote at your local annual meetings to elect your volunteer governing leaders - or stand for election yourself
- Receive regular membership information about Red Cross member activities and decisions, as well as the issues and trends that affect and shape the direction of the organization
- Attend events and opportunities in your community
- Present proposals and raise issues through the membership mailbox system
*(Voting privileges cannot be extended to Red Cross employees.)
Responsibilities:
- Understand and uphold the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- Promote and support the work of The Canadian Red Cross Society, and play a role in the future direction of the Society
- Recognize and abide by the Society’s By-laws
- Maintain a current membership through annual renewal
