The Canadian Red Cross and Air Canada partner to provide humanitarian assistance

Air Canada
The Canadian Red Cross loads 10 tons of relief materials on to Air Canada’s flight to Jamaica, September 19, 2004.
In light of the horrific devastation brought by Hurricane Ivan, Air Canada generously offered the Canadian Red Cross cargo space on a flight bound to Jamaica, on September 19, 2004. In fact, Air Canada up-gauged their outbound aircraft to a Boeing 767-200 to ensure there would be sufficient room to carry the expected relief materials. With great appreciation, the Canadian Red Cross was able to send 10 metric tonnes of relief materials dedicated for the island of Jamaica. Air Canada’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Duncan Dee graciously joined the flight, a move that highlighted Air Canada’s commitment to aiding the citizens of Jamaica.

The Canadian Red Cross would like to show its appreciation and many thanks to Air Canada’s very generous offer; to the staff of the communication and the cargo departments, who went beyond the call of duty to ensure the efficient and successful transportation of goods. The Canadian Red Cross would also like to thank Mr. Dee for making time in his schedule to be a part of this very important flight, and to acknowledge his contribution in ensuring the much needed relief supplies reached the people of Jamaica.
