HELP - Customer Service volunteer

Volunteer with our Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) in various communities in B.C. and Alberta.
HELP is a volunteer-operated, community-based program that lends health equipment such as wheelchairs and bathing aids to people of all ages who are recovering from surgery, illness or injury. Our service provides solutions to those who are confronted with a sudden injury, declining health or short term disability.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with clients and health care professionals to fulfill equipment requests
- Maintain paper and/or computer records regarding loans and returns
- Receive financial donations
- Respond to phone enquiries regarding HELP and other Red Cross programs
Qualifications
- You have excellent customer service and organizational skills
- You are friendly and enjoy helping others
- You are fluent in spoken and written English and, perhaps, speak a second language
- You enjoy working as part of a team with people from a variety of backgrounds
- You are willing to submit to a criminal record check
- You are physically able to handle wheelchairs, walkers, bath seats and other health equipment
Other
- Training is provided
- Volunteers are asked to commit to one shift per week (3-4 hours)
- In some locations, experience with computers is required
