2006 P.E.I. Red Cross Relay

Course

The first leg of the Relay starts with a 10km run on rail trails and dirt roads followed by a 23km bike ride on quiet country roads. The third leg will be an 8km run on the Confederation Trail followed by a 17km off-road bike over the rail trails, a short span of pavement and an old dirt road. The final leg will be an out and back 8km canoe section on the Brudenell River which will provide an exciting finish. The course has proved to be exciting and challenging to experienced competitors and novices alike.

Each participant in the relay will be required to fundraise $100.00 as their entrance fee for the event.

Divisions

There are numerous divisions within the 2006 Red Cross Relay that individuals or teams may enter. These include participating as six member, two member and/or as solo teams

Registration 

Registration for the Red Cross Relay will commence on Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Charlottetown office of the Canadian Red Cross.

Volunteers & Sponsorship

Sponsorship opportunities as well as volunteers are also required to assist with this great fitness and fun-filled event.

Notes

In addition to being one of Prince Edward Island’s premiere multi-sporting events, the Red Cross Relay is a major fundraising event for the PEI Region of the Red Cross. The funds raised through this event will benefit the 20,000 Islanders that are served annually through water safety and first aid training, emergency relief for Islanders forced from their homes due to a fire or flood, visits to the elderly, loans of medical equipment such as crutches and wheelchairs, and educating school aged children about abuse prevention.
