Red Cross Accepts Donations for Peterborough Flood Recovery

Peterborough, July 16, 2004 – The Canadian Red Cross is accepting donations for recovery efforts following severe flooding in Peterborough over the past 48 hours.

“Red Cross volunteers continue to assist the City of Peterborough in shelter  management, providing those residents unable to return to their homes with cots, clean-up kits and information,” said David Webster, district branch manager for the Peterborough Red Cross.

“At this stage in the disaster we are looking to assist residents with the overwhelming task of clean-up as they receive approval from authorities to return to their homes,” said Webster.  “We will be actively assessing the situation in the coming days to ensure we have a clear sense of the need and the resources required.”

Donations can be made online at or by calling 1-800-418-1111 or by mailing a cheque to Canadian Red Cross, 5700 Cancross Court, Mississauga, ON L5R 3E9.  Donations can also be made in person at the Peterborough branch at 565 Water Street.
