Getting kids to think twice about going on thin ice is the goal for the Canadian Red Cross and its injury prevention partners, Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. The team has coordinated a multi-media campaign that include a website www.thinktwicethinice.ca and a television PSA. It can be viewed on the aforementioned website. | ||||||||

WARM HANDS PROGRAM
![]() |
The Warm Hands program has supplied just over 10-thousand children in Manitoba communities with mittens, scarves and hats over the past 10 years. Red Cross volunteers spend countless hours knitting quality winter-wear. With wool donated by the community, volunteer knitters sort through the wool to create a wonderful array of colourful hats, scarves and mittens throughout the year.
The wool does not have to be brand-new. The Red Cross Warm Hands program accepts wool that is often mismatched in colour and weight. The Red Cross Warm Hands Program donates boxes mittens, scarves and hats every year to several communities in Northern Manitoba, Winnipeg’s inner-city, a daycare and one not-for-profit agency. The goal of the program is to prevent unintentional injury from frostbite and hypothermia.
If you would like to donate wool to the Warm Hands program, please call 982-7330 in Winnipeg or 1-866-685-4250 or email us infomanitoba@redcross.ca
