The Youth Mine Action Ambassador Program is aimed at building a sustainable network of active, articulate Canadians who will extend the reach of landmines education into local communities in order to motivate, support and raise funds for the global landmines crisis.
Who is involved?
The Youth Mine Action Ambassador Program (YMAAP) is a joint initiative of Mines Action Canada (MAC), the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) and the Mine Action Team of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). The Program is made possible through the generous financial support of the Youth International Internship Program, the Canadian Landmine Foundation and the Mine Action Team of DFAIT. Mines Action Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, the Canadian Landmine Foundation, UNICEF Québec, Oxfam Canada and the Canadian International Demining Centre are also associated with the program in the role of local host organizations. There are twelve Youth Ambassadors working throughout Canada based at host organizations in Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto (2), Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, Sydney and St. John's.
