In Kim Turmel’s family, 3:30 is when the girls get home from school. Snacks are quickly distributed, and the girls can play and relax until dinner. Today, Kim’s mother is not there, which is unusual because she is around almost every day to help Kim when her granddaughters get home.

Canadian Red Cross field hospital arrives in remote region of Nepal

May 05, 2015 - A Canadian Red Cross field hospital has arrived in the remote village of Dhunche, a remote community outside of Kathmandu near the Tibet border. Red Cross personnel, tents and medical supplies were all flown in by helicopter as the earthquake destruction had prevented road access.

Update on Red Cross response in Nepal

The Canadian Red Cross has deployed its mobile field hospital and 25 aid workers to Nepal. The mobile hospital will help alleviate the strain on the local healthcare system. It’s part of a coordinated response by the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement to the powerful earthquake that shook the Kathmandu region.
