Walmart and the Canadian Red Cross have joined forces for a cross-country campaign to raise much-needed funds to support people made vulnerable by disasters.  From August 7-29, 2014, Walmart customers will be encouraged to make a donation at Walmart check-out counters.  Funds raised will be used in communities across Canada to help the Red Cross provide essential services, including food, shelter, emotional support, health kits and family reunification, to individuals affected by emergencies such as flooding and house fires.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary for the corporate partnership between Walmart and the Canadian Red Cross.  The Canadian Red Cross thanks all Walmart associates and customers who have generously supported this initiative over the last decade.

In addition to supporting Red Cross efforts following disasters, Walmart is dedicated to helping the Red Cross ensure Canadians know the steps needed to prepare themselves and their families for 72 hours should they be impacted by an emergency.   In 2013, the Canadian Red Cross, with support from Walmart, launched a preparedness calculator app for Facebook that allows users to create a customized list of items required for a household emergency preparedness kit.  This year, a free version of the app will be available on the App Store.

You can also make a donation to the campaign online.  Donate today to ensure the Red Cross is able to continue to respond when help is needed most.
