Trusty returns to show children how to Be Safe!

Whether in Canada or abroad, the Canadian Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that strives to make a critical positive impact on the lives, preventing injuries and violence, including abuse, bullying, harassment, exploitation or other forms of aggression.

Violence can take root in a variety of settings, but despite its myriad forms of manifestation, the long-term implications of abuse are many.

From feelings of doubt and uncertainty to lingering fears of continued verbal, physical or sexual assault, violence can haunt those who are targeted for it and leave behind deep-seated wounds.

However, with programs offered by the Canadian Red Cross like Be Safe!, children, parents and teachers gain vital knowledge and skills that help to reduce the likelihood of harm.

Introducing Trusty
Be Safe! is a personal safety program designed for children between the ages of five and nine, and focuses specifically on recognizing and raising awareness of sexual abuse. Blending storytelling, interactive activities and learning aids, Be Safe! works to engage children and also help them learn more about personal safety.

Trusty, a mascot for Be Safe!, helps children understand body ownership, how to pick up signs of potentially dangerous situations and teaches kids about safe and unsafe touching.

Make a difference
Through violence and abuse prevention programs offered by the Canadian Red Cross, Canadians of all ages are given the skills and knowledge to prevent violence and reduce its harmful impacts. Additionally, violence and abuse prevention education helps people end the cycle of hurt that swirls around aggressive behavior and tendencies.

The Canadian Red Cross is committed to helping individuals and organizations be safe. With your support, the Canadian Red Cross can continue to provide a layer of crucial prevention education to not only those affected by violence and abuse, but to all Canadians so that our schools, homes and communities are safer.

Please donate online or at a local Red Cross office today to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
