Queen's University raises awareness of the importance of first aid and CPR

The Canadian Red Cross is an active non-profit organization that works to provide people across the country with the skills that they require to overcome challenging emergency situations.

For some individuals, those incidents can occur when natural disasters strike, yet other people may experience them when they least expect it, when they're with a family member or in a public setting.

In the event that someone is affected by cardiac arrest or another medical emergency, having knowledge of first aid and CPR can enable a person to respond when a person is in need. The Canadian Red Cross' first aid and CPR skills help to bridge that gap and give individuals the skills to react in times of crisis.

Taking action today
By offering of flexible training courses that are compliant with federal and provincial occupational health and safety legislation, the Canadian Red Cross helps people be prepared both at home and in the workplace for any issues that may emerge.

How important is first aid and CPR to Canadians? In Kingston, Ontario, young people at the Queen's University campus celebrated Canadian Red Cross Awareness Week in March by encouraging people to become certified in first aid and CPR.

The Red Cross Club and the Commerce Frosh Week Bosses at Queen's University teamed up to host several events and fundraisers dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of having these vital preparedness skills, in support of the Canadian Red Cross.
