$125,000 is Saskatchewan’s fundraising goal

(Aug. 1, 2013, Regina)  Walmart Canada is gearing up for a cross-country campaign to raise much needed funds for Canadian Red Cross disaster preparedness and response activities. The campaign will run in Walmart stores from Aug. 1 to 25, with an ambitious goal of $3 million, of which over $700,000 are matching funds from Walmart.
“It is incredible to receive support every year from Walmart. Funds raised through the Saskatchewan campaign help ensure that Red Cross is ready to respond when disaster strikes,” said Cindy Fuchs, Provincial Director for the Red Cross in Saskatchewan. “From the spring floods in Western Canada and Quebec to flooding right here at home, the Red Cross is there in times of need for Canadians whose lives are disrupted due to disaster.”
Supporting the Red Cross is easy. At the Walmart checkout, Walmart associates will give customers the opportunity to make a donation to support the work of the Canadian Red Cross in communities across the country. Walmart will match these donations up to $2,000 per store.
The Canadian Red Cross is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which includes the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross and over 185 national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The Canadian Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.
