Canadian Red Cross responding to individuals affected by two apartment fires in Regina

(Regina, Jan. 9, 2015) The Canadian Red Cross is prepared to assist families affected by two separate apartment fires that occurred on Friday, Jan. 9, in Regina. A reception centre has been set up at the Quality Inn at 1717 Victoria Avenue.
 
Members of the Canadian Red Cross Personal Disaster Assistance Team are conducting needs assessments for evacuated residents and are providing food, clothing and accommodation for 72 hours. Those who have been affected by the fire and are still in need of Red Cross assistance can call 1-888-800-6493.
 
People looking for information about friends or family affected by the fires can call 1-888-953-3463.
 
The Canadian Red Cross Personal Disaster Assistance Team is a group of dedicated volunteers who assist families and individuals with local, small-scale disasters.
 
The average cost of a response in which a family of four is assisted is $2,000. All Canadian Red Cross support is provided at no charge to those in need. To donate to this locally funded program please visit your local Red Cross office, call 1-800-418-1111 or go online to www.redcross.ca.
