LÉVIS, October 30, 2012 — Volunteers from the Lévis Branch of the Red Cross were mobilized this afternoon to provide assistance to the people impacted by a fire in a 32-unit apartment building located on Castels Street.
The team of 16 volunteers began by offering moral support to those affected by the disaster and who were going through a difficult time. Later, they assessed the needs of each person and offered them Red Cross services such as lodging, food and emergency clothing for the next three days.
Red Cross volunteers are trained to provide emergency assistance and to guide those affected by disasters to the services they may subsequently need in order to get back to normal life as soon as possible.
