Red Cross Day of Pink spurs thousands to stand for respect

WINNIPEG. Over 19,000 people across the province are standing for respect today as part of the third annual Red Cross Day of Pink.

Transfer of Responsibility for Emergency Management Services for Manitoba Flood Evacuees Complete by February 1, 2014

December 10, 2013 - The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, today announced that delivery of services for 2011 Manitoba flood evacuees will fully transition from the Manitoba Association of Native Firefighters (MANFF) to the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) by February 1, 2014. 

Manitoba: Walmart Canada launches campaign to raise $3 million for the Canadian Red Cross

Walmart Canada is gearing up for a cross-country campaign to raise much needed funds for Canadian Red Cross disaster preparedness and response activities. The campaign will run in Walmart stores from Aug. 1 to 25, with an ambitious goal of $3 million, of which over $700,000 are matching funds from Walmart.

Needs Assessment: 2011 Manitoba Flood Evacuees

Earlier this month, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) asked the Canadian Red Cross to conduct an assessment of the longer term needs of the 2011 Manitoba flood evacuees. Approximately 2,000 individuals were evacuated from six First Nations communities due to flooding that occurred in Manitoba in 2011.

Co-op’s $1 million donation and local employee help gives boost to Red Cross emergency response in Western Canada

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) and its 235 member-owned retail Co-ops are donating $1,000,000 over five years to help local Co-ops and the Canadian Red Cross work together to provide effective, community-based emergency response throughout Western Canada. This is the largest single, multi-year donation in the history of the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS).
