REGINA, March 18, 2015 – Major student rallies in Regina and Saskatoon, bullying prevention presentations by specially trained Saskatchewan Roughriders, and a visit by Pink Shirt Day Co-founder Travis Price are all part of 2015 Red Cross Day of Pink on April 1.

“When you see someone wearing pink on April 1, you’re seeing someone who is saying that bullying is no longer acceptable” said Cindy Fuchs, provincial director of the Canadian Red Cross. “This is a day to bring awareness to bullying issues and to encourage others to join the movement to make bullying a thing of the past.”

On Monday, March 30, over 1,000 students will be rallying at the University of Saskatoon. The following day, over 2,000 students will be doing the same at the University of Regina.

“Things really get rolling on April 1, when hundreds of schools and communities from La Ronge to Estevan and Lloydminster to Langenburg have pink parades, pink assemblies and pink bake sales, all in support of Red Cross bullying prevention,” said Fuchs.

Registration and merchandise orders can be placed online at www.redcross.ca/pinkSK until March 20 in order to ensure delivery by April 1. All proceeds go directly to supporting Red Cross bullying prevention education in Saskatchewan. The purchase of one $15 shirt will help the Red Cross reach one student with bullying prevention education.

Presented by SaskEnergy, Red Cross Day of Pink aims to raise awareness about bullying issues and what people can do to create safe and respectful environments. Hundreds of schools across the province will be holding assemblies, rallies and parades that help promote respect and celebrate Red Cross Day of Pink initiatives.
