The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Web and Print Designer within the Marketing and Philanthropy and Prevention and Safety Department.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Design and Creative Strategist, the incumbent is responsible for digital, print and production design and campaign concepting in collaboration with the Manager, Design and Creative Strategy, Marketing Hub, Senior leadership and client teams. This role will be the lead designer for the Prevention and Safety portfolio.
As Web and Print Designer: design marketing pieces and campaigns for the Marketing Hub and Client Teams and lead designer for the Prevention and Safety portfolio
  • Work closely with all departments to develop their marketing and advertising creative assets including infographics, diagrams, charts, social assets, emails, banners, campaign pages, fact sheets, magazine ads, reports, booklets, books, media presentations, posters
  • Provide art direction and concept options for new projects or projects that need to be refreshed
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative team and stakeholders on design concepts that meet support, marketing and advertising objectives
  • Consult on how to create rich online experiences for materials that start from print
  • Create cohesive designs and style guide for the Prevention and Safety portfolio based on the overall brand
  • Execute designs from concept to production
  • Estimate the time required to complete the work and advising on work back schedules
  • Organize and archive project files and the image library
  • Ensure projects adhere to brand standards
  • Ensure consistent design between associated products
  • Optimize designs for ease of use for other designers
As Production Designer ensure files are web and print production ready
  • Insert and typeset copy and source imagery for templated projects
  • Update copy and imagery in existing assets
  • Create and upload assets for the main website and microsites
  • Create optimized interactive PDFs
The minimum qualifications for this job are a post-secondary degree or diploma in advertising or graphic design plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.   
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Suite across platforms (print, web, mobile, tablet, video)
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility and build strong relationships with all levels of internal and external partners in a complex organizational structure
  • Excellent project management skills, strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects
  • Superior organizational skills and quality assurance skills
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and results driven
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team
• Experienced in the design nuances for a myriad of marketing channels including email marketing, display advertising, search engine marketing, direct mail, social media
• Understanding of brand and brand standards
• Excellent understanding of typography
• Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript is an asset
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Creative intuition on messaging and designs that resonate with the public
• Experience in an e-commerce environment is an asset, but not mandatory
• Bilingual is an asset, but not required

Working Conditions
• The majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
• Occasional requirement to work overtime hours, often with short notice.
• Domestic travel may be required.
