The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking an Email Marketing Advisor within the Digital Marketing team.  Reporting to the Email Marketing Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the deployment and execution of email marketing communications and support for the Disaster Management program.  Working with programs and departments such as Digital Marketing, Finance, Disaster Management and Communications, this role will support all aspects of beneficiary communications and outreach via the email channel.  The role will also play a critical part in email list management, list hygiene, segmentation, project management and campaign performance reporting.
This unique role provides you an opportunity to leverage your email marketing expertise in order to support the Canadian Red Cross as we provide timely information and assistance to Canadians impacted by disasters.

Lead the development of email communication for the Disaster Management program
  • Work closely with Disaster Management, Finance and Digital Marketing to help develop the content for beneficiary communications and support including copy, creative asset development and landing pages
  • Work in an agile manner to deploy electronic fund transfers, information updates, surveys and other types of e-mail based communications to our beneficiaries at the onset of disasters and continue supporting this function for as long as needed during the response and recovery phases of emergencies
  • Work closely with the Email Marketing Consultant to optimize these campaigns based on the campaign brief
  • Create the emails within our Email Service Provider, working with the available templates and making recommendations for new template development/testing
  • Project manage email communications from briefing to deployment, validation of email lists, and post-email reporting and data management (bounces, unsubscribes, spam, etc.) working with program teams, designers, copy writers, translators and technical development teams
Execute on email marketing deployment and protect the Society’s email deliverability metrics
  • Manage the end-to-end email marketing deployment process for Disaster Management.Execute by tracking program interdependencies, milestones and deliverables, and legal compliance (CASL).
  • Monitoring of email deliverability and maintenance of relationships with ISP’s and proactively implementing industry best practices to enhance deliverability rates
  • Remain updated on industry best practices regarding performance, deliverability, mobile, new tools and technology
Communicate with internal clients on the performance of their campaigns and own the email analytics and reporting functions for the Email Marketing team as a whole
  • Capture, assess and communicate impact and learnings of email programs.Produce email marketing reports and provide information and insight back to the email campaign requestors
  • Update the monthly email marketing dashboard for Digital Marketing campaigns and create new dashboards as required for other departments using email marketing
  • Carry out other digital analytics projects as assigned
Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for this position are the completion of a university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field plus a minimum of 1-2 years of email deployment/coordination experience. 
  • Hands-on experience and proven track record managing all aspects of email campaigns and delivery through a major email service provider
  • Experience in an e-commerce environment is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Experience with Campaign Monitor or other Email Service Provider is an asset, but not mandatory
  • Thorough knowledge of email best practices around deliverability, opt-ins, CASL and list management
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with database marketing and working with CRM systems within an email program
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to articulate and champion email marketing best practices and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Strong creative intuition on messaging/designs that resonate with the public
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Bilingual is an asset, but not required
  • Exceptional project management skills, including overseeing inputs from multiple stakeholders, strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and high degree on initiative to drive projects to completion
  • Passion for data and strong bias for action - ability to synthesize data into insights and insights into actionable programs
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment with short timelines and under pressure
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility and build strong relationships with all levels of internal and external partners in a complex organizational structure
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, superior organizational skills and quality assurance skills
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and results driven
Working Conditions
  • All work is performed in an office environment.
  • During disasters and the weeks that follow, there will be a requirement to work occasional overtime hours, often with short notice. Some weekend work may also be required to deploy electronic fund transfer emails during these periods.
  • Domestic travel may be required.
