The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Coordinator, Foundations and Grants for the Philanthropy department.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Foundations and Grants, this position is part of the National Philanthropy team responsible for domestic foundation and grants solicitations and reporting for funding $10,000+. The primary focus will be with Manitoba based donors, however as part of the National team, the incumbent will be involved in relationships across provinces and the country.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develops, monitors, and manages domestic grants and foundation applications $10,000+, in coordination with the Senior Manager and program staff.
  • Builds relationships with current and potential funding organizations.
  • Coordinates reporting back to funders including financial reporting in conjunction with program staff and the Senior Manager.
  • In coordination with the Senior Manager, supports the relationship with our largest provincial operations funder, including applications for funding, stewardship of agreement, and reporting.
  • Writes reports, proposals, and correspondence on issues related to grants and foundations within their portfolio.
  • Researches and seeks out new domestic opportunities to apply for grants and foundations that will generate revenue for programs and services of the Canadian Red Cross.
  • Prepares donor correspondence including acknowledgement and thank you letters for foundations and grants donors.
  • Provides general administrative support for the Foundations and Grants team.
  • Coordinates with Business Solutions and Senior Manager to facilitate the Foundation and Grants team’s response during times of disaster.
 
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for this position are the completion of a university degree, with a concentration in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of job related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of philanthropy practices and familiarity with donor-centered fundraising with a strong desire to improve donor experience
 
Abilities and Skills:
  • Excellence in customer service skills in supporting partners, volunteers and donors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating a collaborative approach with a willingness to engage constructively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects within tightly prescribed timelines
  • Ability to work within and meet deadlines in a face paced environment with conflicting priorities and ability to adapt to change
  • Strong commitment to performance of tasks, high level of energy, attention to detail, enthusiasm and ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software.
  • First Aid certification, or willingness to take training
 
Assets:
  • Fluency in French

  • The majority of this work will be performed in a safe and clean environment. 
  • This position may require working non-traditional hours to execute events and meet the needs of donors and volunteers and during times of disaster or appeal.
 
This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check.
