The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking Caseworkers. The incumbent will work with individuals and families that were affected by the disaster, assessing their needs and capacity, and in turn, offering the appropriate assistance in accordance with CRCS Fundamental Principles and the Mission, CRC policies, and Disaster Management (DM) Standard Operating Procedures and approved budgets. 
 
  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with individuals and families in contact with the CRC, to determine immediate, short and long-term needs through appropriate tools and processes including pro-active follow up where appropriate;
  • Provide appropriate services as assigned, based on the Technical Standards and the National Guidelines;
  • Recognize and apply PFA approach in all interactions with affected community members and personnel;
  • Contribute toward the establishment of safe & secure spaces supporting different populations;
  • Refer individuals in need of support to appropriate service providers outlined within the referral network;
  • Communicate and report on progress identify emerging trends related to individual wellbeing and community capacity to the Case Management Supervisor to inform recovery programming;
  • Participates in and contributes to team based case management activities to provide a coordinated effort in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in the affected community;
  • Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment;
  • Complete and maintain case files as per CRC standards using applicable systems and tools;
  • Ensures file processing and client follow-up is completed within program timelines;
  • Follows established procedures with accurate attention to detail;
  • Performs office duties such as data entry, photocopying, faxing & scanning;
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
  • A college diploma in a related field and 1-3 years experience in case work or community engagement, or a combination
  • Knowledge, experience or an established network in Social Service, Social Work, Counseling, Teaching or allied health professions an asset
  • Previous experience in emergency management an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in customer service
  • Well-developed listening, assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and non-verbal cues, active listening, clearly able explain self and confirm understanding from client 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
  • Ability to perform data entry at a high level of accuracy and speed in a Client Management data base, Excel and other applications
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters and information
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, work in difficult and stressful conditions
     
    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Duties are principally conducted at the Canadian Red Cross office. The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable. Health and Safety Considerations will vary by location and will be provided to candidates for their consideration prior to accepting an assignment   Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice may be required occasionally.
    This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check.  All convictions will be reviewed by People Services and may not disqualify candidates.  This position requires a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Enhanced Police Information Check
