Sue Phillips

Chief Transition Officer

Sue Phillips is the Chief Transition Officer, a position she has held since 2010. She is responsible for Red Cross operations across the four Western provinces and Northern Canada.  In addition to her role with Western Canada, Sue was recently appointed as Director General for Injury Prevention on a national level where she is responsible for the First Aid and Water Safety programs across Canada.

Working for the Red Cross since 1980, Sue has carried responsibility in all program areas for the organization.  Her tenure has included management roles in many programs including Director of Blood Donor Recruitment and Director of Southern Alberta. She made significant impact as Director of First Aid and Water Safety where she was instrumental in managing transition of the programs from four provincial jurisdictions to one for Western Canada. This included harmonizing program standards and pricing, leading standards for customer service excellence, growing the training partner delivery model, and implementing the Contact Centre to service clients throughout Western Canada.

Immediately prior to assuming her Director General roles, she held the position of Executive Director, Programs for Western Canada.  In that capacity, she lead the creation of the customer service model, and supported the Health Equipment Loan Program Service Renewal Plan which established central inventory hubs to increase client loans and improve equipment, cleaning and quality control.
