Vice President, Prevention and Safety

Rick is the Vice President of Prevention and Safety programs. The programs include First Aid, Swimming and Water Safety and Respect Education (Violence and Abuse Prevention). Collectively these programs train and educate 2.8 million Canadians annually.
 
Rick joined the Red Cross New Brunswick Region in 1989 as the Emergency and Safety Service Officer for South East NB and quickly advanced to Manager Program Delivery for NB. In 1999 Rick became the Director of Preventive and Disaster Services of Atlantic Canada,  in February of 2007 became the National Manager of First Aid Programs, in December 2008 the National Director, Injury Prevention Programs for the Canadian Red Cross, in April 2014 the Director General, Prevention and Safety, and is now the Vice President of Prevention and Safety.
 
Rick has over 20 years experience as a paramedic, Water Safety and Lifeguard Master Instructor Trainer, and holds certifications as an Advanced Care Paramedic, Advanced Diver Medical Technician, Hyperbaric Chamber Operator and Category 1 Commercial Diver with North Sea certification.
 
Rick lives in Dieppe, New Brunswick with his wife. They have 4 children that all live in the neighbouring communities. Rick and his wife enjoy the outdoors and being active.
