Amy Mapara

Deputy Chief of Staff/Corporate Secretary and National Manager, Youth Strategy in the Office of the Secretary General

Amy Mapara is Deputy Chief of Staff/Corporate Secretary and National Manager, Youth Strategy in the Office of the Secretary General. Amy has worked at the Canadian Red Cross for the past 23 years initially as a volunteer and since July 2005 as a full time employee working in both domestic and international operations and specifically in Disaster Management and later the Malaria program.  Currently her role involves working with Operations to implement the organization’s strategy, operational planning and developing and implementing the vision for the Youth Engagement Strategy.  Most recently she contributed to the organization’s 2010 – 2015 Strategic Plan.

Amy has always been committed to humanitarian work particularly through youth empowerment as demonstrated by her work experience as well as her years of dedicated volunteer work. While at university she assisted with the launch of Hemoglobal, a NGO dedicated to supporting young people with genetic blood disorders out of the Toronto General Hospital. Amy has also volunteered with YOUCAN (Youth Canada Association) where she chaired the Board of Directors for 4 years, developed their most recent strategy and delivered conflict resolution and peacebuilding training to diverse audiences all over Canada.
