Virginia West

Virginia West resides in Toronto and is a former Deputy Minister for the Province of Ontario, serving in five successive portfolios over a twelve-year period – Solicitor General, Public Safety and Security, Environment, Labour, and Natural Resources. She has also held leadership positions at the municipal level of government – as Commissioner of City Property for the City of Toronto, Chief Administrative Officer for the Borough of East York and the first Commissioner of Urban Planning and Development for the amalgamated City of Toronto.  She is a lawyer by profession and holds an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Virginia will be serving her first term with the Board commencing June 2017.Her volunteer work includes past and current service on community and hospital boards. Currently she serves as Chair, Board of Directors, Providence Health Centre and Commissioner, Niagara Parks Commission.  Previous volunteer governance roles included member of the Corporate Audit Committee; Ontario Public Service, Board of Directors; Catholic Family Services of Toronto, Board Member; Service Ontario, Commissioner; and, several others.
