Michael Beswick

Michael Beswick resides in Toronto and is the retired Senior Vice-President, Pensions, of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS). Outside of OMERS, Michael also worked in the areas of pensions, employee benefits and compensation in industry, both as a technical expert and an active participant in collective bargaining and human resources strategy.   He was very active professionally in various industry associations and committees, including as President of the Association of Canadian Pension Management, in co-authoring several papers on pension governance, and actively participating in advocacy efforts at the Toronto Board of Trade.  He is a mathematics graduate from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.

Michael joined the Board of Directors in 2014 and is a member on the Investment Sub-Committee, the Quality and Safety Committee and serves as the Chair of the Pension Committee. Currently he is a member of the Client Service and Quality Committee of the Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC); a member of the Pension Committee of Providence Healthcare; a member of the Appeals Committee for the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board; and chair of two Pension Committees for the City of Toronto.

He is a past member of the Salvation Army Investment Committee, the Victoria Order of Nurses Board of Directors, the Trent University Board of Governors, the Board of the OPSEU Pension Trust, and the Board of Providence Healthcare where he was Chair for two years.
