Harvey Wyers

Harvey Wyers resides in Sudbury, Ontario. Before retiring he worked at INCO (now VALE) for 30 years. There, he started as an underground miner and finished his career as a Statistician/Researcher in Safety and Health. He also taught part time for six years at Laurentian University in the Labour Studies Program.  He is a graduate of Laurentian with an Honours BA in Political Science.
 
Harvey has been involved with the Canadian Red Cross since he retired in 2001. He started as a senior transportation driver in the Sudbury Branch, where he also was involved in Disaster Management, Public Affairs, and the Housing/Homelessness program. He has served in several roles with local and provincial councils as well as the Ontario Community Health Committee (OCHC). Harvey joined the Board of Directors in 2014.

Harvey has been a lifelong union, community and political activist and organizer in Sudbury and the provincial scene. His community involvement has included the Boards of the United Way, Oxfam Ontario and the Community Legal Clinic. His union activity was as a steward, Safety and Health Co-Chair, Chair of the Political Action Committee and advisor to the President of Local 6500 USW. He also served as Treasurer of the Sudbury and District Labour Council.
